Stringent Criteria for iPSC to Be Called Pluripotency

Cited from the paper "H3K9me3-Dependent Heterochromatin: Barrier to Cell Fate Changes"

In all cases, the reprogrammed iPS  cells meet stringent criteria for pluripotency, such as the ability to rescue tetraploid blastocysts and contribute to the  germline, and on the transcriptional level most iPS lines are highly similar to ES cells derived from the pluripotent inner cell  mass.
