Active and Divergent Promoters

Excerpts from "Promoter directionality is controlled by U1 snRNP and polyadenylation signals"

"Active promoters were defined as promoters with GRO-seq signal detected within the first 1kb downstream of the sense strand. A promoter was considered divergent if it contained GRO-seq signal in the first 1kb downstream of the sense strand and within the first 2kb of the upstream antisense strand. A minimum number of two reads within the defined window (downstream 1kb or upstream 2kb) was used as a cutoff for background signals."
