GATK: GVCF

What is a GVCF and how is it different from a 'regular' VCF?

Calling Variants with HaplotypeCaller in gVCF mode

Calling variants on cohorts of samples using the HaplotypeCaller in GVCF mode.

Genotypes any number of gVCF files that were produced by the Haplotype Caller into a single joint VCF file.
