Initiating Change Conversations

Cited from "Initiating change conversations" from Lynda.com

  1. Ask yourself "Do I really want to do this?"
  2. Consider your odds
  3. Stick to the facts
  4. Find out where everyone stands
  5. Articulate how your position actually helps the opposition.
  6. Make your position a no-brainer for leadership. Can you articulate in a few short bullets how your position supports the company's higher level goals and objectives.
  7. Admit your culpability and no blaming others.
  8. Validate points held by those not supporting the change. Try to find some part of their position that you can accept. The goal is to build some honest mutual respect that will help them want to listen to your position as well.
  9. Always offer solutions, not merely problems.
  10. Volunteer your time to the change.
