- Don't think about asking for raise right now. Think about creating a somewhat informal, ongoing dialog about a future raise.
- One need to understand how the boss view one's progress, and the boss need to have clarity about one's expectations.
- When 6-9 months have passed since your last raise and you're very confident about your performance has been exceeding expectations, think about bringing up a topic of a raise. Don't ask for a raise. Instead, talk with your boss about waning to clearly earn one in 6 months or whatever the appropriate timeline might be. Work with them to define specific new skills or milestones you can achieve that will make it a no brainer to give you a raise.
